History and territory
Over a thousand years the Republic of Venice left countless legacies. On the mainland, one of the most interesting of these is the so-called "Veneto villa civilisation".
From the mid-16th century noble Venetian families decided to invest their wealth accumulated through trade with the Orient in founding large farming estates. The sea, source of wealth and profit for centuries, was replaced by the mainland.
Between the 16th and 18th centuries, the Venetian nobility thus began to construct their stately homes, in particular along the Brenta canal ("naviglio"). Over time, these splendid villas evolved from country houses to "places of pleasure", status symbols of opulence and wealth.
The legacy left by the Serenissima, expression of elegance and refinement, today takes the form of Palladian villas, historic gardens and monumental parks as places of culture and hospitality, incomparable for their harmony and balance, able to seduce the traveller's eyes and heart.
Campagna Lupia, Camponogara, Campolongo Maggiore, Dolo, Mira, Fiesso d’Artico, Fossò, Pianiga, Stra and Vigonovo, known as the Riviera del Brenta municipalities, and Martellago, Mirano, Noale, Salzano, Santa Maria di Sala, Scorzè and Spinea, known as the Terra dei Tiepolo municipalities, together represent an aggregate of architectural gems and natural beauty spots, typical DOC products and gastronomic excellences, a vast wealth of customs and traditions, a friendly outgoing land, rich with intense ferment as few others.
