A Journey into the Elegance of the Brenta Riviera

Gracefully overlooking the Brenta Canal, Villa Venier Contarini is a refined example of a Venetian patrician residence, set in a landscape of great historical and scenic value.

The estate includes two gardens, a private oratory, and the renowned barchesse (wings) beautifully frescoed by Italian and Flemish masters of the 17th century. Built in the 1600s, the villa has undergone modifications and expansions over the centuries, reflecting the influence of prominent Venetian families who owned it, including the Venier of San Vio (known as "dei Leoni") and the Contarini.

Today, the villa houses the Regional Institute for Venetian Villas, a key institution committed to the preservation and enhancement of over 3,000 Venetian villas across the region.

Highlights for visitors include: the front garden facing the Brenta and the rear park, the small family oratory, the frescoed barchesse, with: to the east, a hall decorated by Flemish painter Daniel van den Dyck, featuring scenes from the myth of Cupid and Psyche and to the west, three rooms painted by Antonio Zanchi and Domenico Bruni, with episodes from the Iliad, the Odyssey, and the Aeneid

Villa Venier Contarini also serves as a place of cultural education, especially for younger generations, offering an opportunity to explore the rich heritage of Venetian villas through art, history, economy, and beauty.
